MEMBERSHIP
Provided that
activities are carried out in Malta, the following shall be
eligible to be members of the MACM:
Companies,
organizations, institutions, whether governmental or
private, firms or persons selling on credit basis or
provide credit-related products or services to third
parties, or are related to the collection of revenue
from any source, whether for services provided or
otherwise. (However, the Council reserves the right to
enforce exclusions to membership)
Subsidiaries, forming part of a group of companies, and
engaged in manufacturing, wholesale and distribution and
selling on a credit basis may become members and
exercise their rights; however, each group of companies
is limited to nominating not more than one individual
for election to the Council.
MEMBERS' REPRESENTATIVES
Members who are
not individuals shall appoint their representative for the
purposes of and in accordance with the rules set in the
Statute. Any such member may revoke at any time the
appointment of his representative and may substitute another
representative in his stead. All appointments and
revocations shall be made in writing.
Members who are
not individuals shall exercise their rights through their
representative.
QUALIFICATION OF MEMBERS AND THEIR
ELECTION
Applications for
membership shall be made on the appropriate form of the
Association, as laid down by the Council from time to time.
Applicants shall have to satisfy the Council as to their
qualifications and to undertake to be bound by the
Memorandum and the Articles of Association. A copy of the
MACM Statute can be obtained from the Secretariat of the
Association.
Applicants for
membership may be required to be sponsored by a proposer and
a seconder from among the members of the Association.
The Council shall
have the right to allow or refuse membership to any
applicant and it shall not be bound to give any reasons for
its decision. However, any candidate whose application is
not entertained may delegate a member to plead his case at a
general meeting which shall have the right to reverse the
Council's decision. A candidate who is rejected by the
Council and the general meeting may be proposed again only
after the lapse of one year.
