Credit Information at your Fingertips ...
Credit has become an important element to gain competitive advantage in today’s dynamic business environment. Consequently, people employed within the credit department have an important role to play - ‘aiming to achieve high volume of profitable sales with possibly no or few bad debts and a sound cash flow management, while building a long-term business relationship with their clients.’
The effective way to achieve such business rewards is by combining experience with education. In other words by investing in the skills and competences of the work force.
Many Maltese companies entrust one of their key assets, ‘debtors’, in the hands of inexperienced or unqualified personnel very often. The Malta Association of Credit Management (MACM) has felt the need to introduce in Malta, accredited qualifications for people working in the field of credit management. This would ensure to develop the right skills and qualities that could also be applied to other managerial roles: The ICM (UK) qualifications.
The Chartered Institute of Credit Management (CICM) education scheme has been established for over 20 years and the syllabus is reviewed annually to ensure its relevance to the credit function. CICM has long believed in the value of an all round grounding in credit management and the education syllabus for students studying for the CICM qualifications is designed to give the best possible foundation upon which to build a career in credit management. The strength of the syllabus lies in both the strong base upon which to base a career, and in the opening it can give to those who have hitherto only had exposure to trade or consumer or export. In other words, the aspiring credit manager can look to broaden his or her horizons by studying to achieve the CICM qualifications.

The Malta Association of Credit Management has always been active to introduce a recognised, hands-on education programme for students and credit practitioners in Malta, and the CICM qualifications meet the MACM’s objectives. Founded in 1939, the CICM is the largest professional credit management organisation in Europe with over 8,000 members and students, and is the centre of expertise in the United Kingdom for all matters relating to credit Management.
The CICM is also an accredited awarding body offering nationally recognised qualifications in credit management. In carrying out this role, the Institute establishes and maintains credit related learning syllabi, organises and quality controls every aspect of the examination process, and accredits centres that deliver CICM qualifications.
Students will benefit from highly qualified tutors, a specialist library, modern classroom facilities, and access to the Students’ Members Area on our site.
Examinations are held three times a year in January, June and October.
The CICM is the only recognised body by the Qualifications and Curriculum Authority (QCA) of the UK to award qualifications in credit management.
To ensure individual attention, the maximum number of students in each class is limited to 25 students only. Since the number of students is limited, it is recommended that those who are interested in the course are to register at MACM at their earliest – Registration opens in August.
On the successful completion of the CICM Diploma in Credit Management - Level 3, you will be eligible to become an Associate of the Chartered Institute of Credit Management (UK) and to use designatory letters ACICM.
Completion of Diploma in Credit Management Level 3 & 5 entitles you to become a Graduate of the Chartered Institute of Credit Management (UK) and use the designatory letters MCICM (Grad).
